Providence Man Sentenced 20 Years For Armed Home Invasion

Prosecutors at the indictment said the suspects tied the victims' hands with cords and pistol-whipped one victim.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man was given a 20-year prison sentence with probation after 12 years, for an armed robbery and home invasion that targeted a sleeping family.

Anneurys Prado, 22 was sentenced by Superior Court Magistrate Richard D. Raspallo Friday after pleading "no contest," to invading the Mercy Street Home this past July, the state attorney general's office told the Providence Journal.

According to police, the Mercy Street home invasion was one of several incidents this summer targeted homes the robbers believed drug dealers lived in. When Prado and the three or four others he was working with broke in at about 4:30 a.m., on July 25, the suspects were wrong. The house had no drug dealers living there, but did have a family filled with children and grandchildren, woken up scared in the middle of the night to people in their house with guns pointed at them.
