Stoughton Blaze Leaves Family Rebuilding

STOUGHTON, MA — A Stoughton family is recovering following a fire that broke out at their home on the morning of the last day of 2017.

Sunday at about 10:15 a.m., Stoughton Fire and area fire departments responded to a fire at a home on Pine Street. Mark Sommers, whose wife's family lives at the home, wrote on GoFundMe that his father in-law had a medical incident while in the basement and dropped a cigarette, causing an out of control fire.

All the residents were able to evacuate with no injuries, but the damage from the fire took most of the family's belonging.

Firefighters from Avon, Randolph, Easton, Canton, Sharon, Walpole, and Holbrook provided mutual aid, according to Stoughton Fire.
