Stoughton Business Owner Indicted in Workers’ Compensation Fraud Case
Manuel DeSousa faces two counts of workers' compensation fraud and larceny over $250.

STOUGHTON, MA —An Avon man who owns two Stoughton-based companies has been indicted on charges of workers’ compensation fraud in connection to allegedly making misleading statements during audits of his workers’ compensation policies and failing to disclose the true size of his company payrolls.
Manuel DeSousa, 65, owner of cleaning company Enserv, Inc., and president of temporary employment agency Templink, Inc., was indicted Thursday by a Norfolk County grand jury on two counts of workers’ compensation fraud and larceny over $250, according to the state's Attorney General's office.
“We allege that to avoid paying workers’ compensation premiums, this defendant misled auditors and failed to disclose the true size of his companies,” said Attorney General Maura Healey said in a statement.

Authorities say that DeSousa made misleading statements during audits and failed to disclose the true size of the payrolls at his companies in an effort to avoided paying about $40,000 in workers’ compensation insurance premiums.
This investigation was referred to the Attorney General’s Office by the state’s Insurance Fraud Bureau.

An arraignment date in superior court has not been scheduled.
