Stoughton Coronavirus Update: Number Of Cases Rise To 18
Eighteen Stoughton residents have tested positive for the new coronavirus; so have two police officers.

STOUGHTON, MA — There are 18 positive cases of the new coronavirus in Stoughton as of Friday, according to the latest numbers from local health officials.
Town Manager Robin Muksian Grimm said she expects the number of cases will continue to climb, but given that Stoughton is one of the larger towns in Norfolk County, the number isn't staggering. As of Thursday afternoon, there were 292 cases of COVID-19 in the county.
The number of cases continues to rise across the state, and additional measures to stem its spread continue to be implemented. The governor has declared a Stay at Home advisory. All non-essential businesses have been closed.

As more testing becomes available, state health officials expect case counts across the state and at home to rise.

Two Stoughton police officers have tested positive for the new coronavirus. Grimm said Health Director Janiece Bruce is working directly with Police Chief Donna McNamara to follow all protocol regarding other officers and any member of the public who the officers were in contact with.

The Stoughton branch of the YMCA has ramped up its efforts to help seniors as the new coronavirus spreads. Jesse Keene, the associate executive director for the branch, said the YMCA has offered free online fitness courses for seniors and is regularly calling them to make sure they are eating well and are okay.
