Stoughton Sixth Graders Help Boston Showstoppers Win U.S. Junior Championship Tourney

Stoughton is well represented on the Boston Showstopper roster with four players on its sixth grade basketball team. The Showstoppers won a U.S. Junior Championship title down in Pennsylvania on June 26.

Four girls from Stoughton - Valerie Whalen, Asiah Dingle, Gianna DeNapoli and Jordan Motley - recently helped their AAU sixth grade basketball team to a U.S. Junior Championship title at the 11th Annual Hershey National Showcase in Hershey, PA.

The Stoughton girls are part of the Boston Showstoppers and traveled to Hershey on June 22 to compete in the U.S. Junior Nationals.

Over the next four days, the team went 8-0 to win the title, besting a field of 30 teams from 11 different states.

The Boston Showstoppers won the 11-year-old girls' playoff bracket edging Next Level from New Jersey, 50-49, in the finals on June 26.

The Stoughton quartet will now travel to Tennessee to compete in the National Championship over the week of July 4.

Stoughton eighth graders Jessica Greer (Mass Ducks) and Brigdette Whalen (Boston Showstoppers) will also be playing for the National Championship with their respective AAU clubs down in Orlando.
