When Does Stoughton High School's 2014 Fall Sports Season Begin?

The start of a new school year in Stoughton is less than two weeks away, and school officials have released a series of important dates for students and parents.

But as the 2014-2015 nears, athletes in Stoughton are also getting ready for a new sports season. Practice began for Stoughton High School’s football, soccer, cross-country and field hockey teams this past week for athletes, and tryouts were held for the boys soccer, volleyball and golf teams.

So when is the first series of games and scrimmages for the season?

The varsity football team’s first scrimmage is set to be held Saturday morning, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. in Braintree against Braintree. The action continues on Monday, Aug. 25, when the boys soccer team heads to East Bridgewater for a 12 p.m. scrimmage and the field hockey team takes on Bridgewater-Raynham at home at 3:30 p.m., according to the Stoughton Athletics Calendar.

But the first actual games of the season begin the first week of school, with the following teams set to play:

Tuesday, Sept. 2

• Boys & Girls Cross-Country Hockomock Jamboree (3:45 p.m.)

Wednesday, Sept. 3

• Girls Soccer vs. Abington (3:30 p.m.)
• Boys Soccer @ Quincy (4 p.m.)

Thursday, Sept. 4

• JV Volleyball vs. Taunton (3:30 p.m.)
• Varsity Field Hockey vs. Taunton (3:30 p.m.)
• Freshman Field Hockey @ Taunton (4:45 p.m.)
• Varsity Volleyball vs. Taunton (4:45 p.m.)
• JV Field Hockey vs. Taunton (4:45 p.m.)

Friday, Sept. 5

• Boys Soccer vs. Taunton (3:30 p.m.)
• Girls Soccer @ Taunton (3:30 p.m.)
• Varsity Football vs. Milton (7 p.m.)

Saturday, Sept. 6

• Freshman Football @ Milton (9 a.m.)
• JV Football @ Milton (11 a.m.)
