A Year Later, DNA Leads Stoughton Police to Home Invasion Suspect

David Pacini, 23, of Easton, was arrested Monday and charged with home invasion.

STOUGHTON, MA — A DNA sample is being cited as the reason the Stoughton Police Department was able to identify a home invasion suspect from about a year ago.

David Pacini, 23, of Easton, was arrested Monday and charged with home invasion, assault with a dangerous weapon, and malicious destruction of property over $250, according to the Stoughton Police Department.

Last year, police received a report of a home invasion on Canton Street. The victim told police that a man wearing a hood and mask forced his way through the door while armed with a black firearm. The suspect did significant damage inside the home before fleeing in a tan-colored vehicle, police said.

Evidence and DNA from the scene was submitted to the state police's crime lab by Detective Jim O'Connor for DNA confirmation. On March 9, police learned that the DNA sample came back to Pacini,

"Once again Detective O'Connor's relentless efforts to solve crimes no matter how much time has past has proven to be a detriment to those who choose to commit those crimes," police said in a release.
