SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury residents will gather on Wednesday for a Special Town Meeting to vote on four warrant articles, most of them stemming from citizen petitions rather than major town spending proposals.

The official 2026 Special Town Meeting warrant, published last month, includes four items. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School gymnasium, 390 Lincoln Rd.

Residents must have registered to vote by noon on May 8 to participate in the Spring 2026 Special Town Meeting.

What’s on the warrant

Article 1: Vote to Support House Bill 3464
This citizen petition asks Town Meeting voters to support a proposed change to Massachusetts’ “Bottle Bill,” including increasing the deposit from 5 cents to 10 cents and expanding the types of containers covered. The measure is a nonbinding “sense of the town” vote intended to signal support to state lawmakers rather than enact local changes.

Article 2: Resolution Regarding the Audit of the Massachusetts Legislature
Another petition calls on Sudbury to formally support an audit of the Massachusetts Legislature, following a voter-approved statewide ballot question that has faced delays in implementation. The article is also nonbinding and would serve as a statement of support for transparency at the state level.

Article 3: An Act Providing for Recall Elections in the Town of Sudbury
This article proposes creating a recall process for elected officials in Sudbury. If approved, it would begin a Home Rule Petition to amend the town charter, allowing voters to remove officials before their terms expire. Any change would require additional approval from the state Legislature and the governor.

Article 4: Vote Of No Confidence
A citizen petition asks voters to consider a formal vote of no confidence in the Sudbury Public Schools School Committee. The measure is symbolic and would not remove members or change authority, but could carry political weight by signaling voter dissatisfaction.

Parking Information

Officials said voters should allow extra time for parking and walking to the L-SRHS gymnasium, as other events will also be taking place at the high school on Wednesday evening.

The meeting will be held in the gymnasium, not the auditorium. Accessible parking will be reserved near the school’s front entrance, with overflow parking available at Nixon Elementary School and Featherland Park. Parking will not be allowed along Lincoln Road or Concord Road.

Drivers are asked to use caution around pedestrians, especially near 7 p.m. when traffic is expected to be heaviest. Officials also encouraged attendees to carpool and budget extra travel time.
