Sudbury School Committee Taps Assistant Superintendent As Interim Leader
The appointment follows Superintendent Brad Crozier's announcement last month that he plans to leave the district this year.
SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury Public Schools has officially appointed its interim superintendent.
SPS Assistant Superintendent Annette Doyle accepted the role of interim superintendent for the 2026-27 school year, the Sudbury School Committee announced Monday. The appointment follows Superintendent Brad Crozier's announcement last month, in a mutually agreed-upon statement with the School Committee, that he would be leaving the district at the end of this school year.
Doyle currently serves as the district’s Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning and has been part of the leadership team for several years.

The School Committee praised her “thoughtful communication, steady leadership, and commitment to supporting students, staff, and families," in a statement on Monday.
Committee members, Chair Karyn Jones, Vice Chair Jessica McCready, Julie Durgin-Sicree, Ellen Lederer-Defrancesco and Elizabeth Sues, said Doyle has demonstrated a strong commitment to academic excellence, inclusive practices and collaborative leadership throughout her career.

“Ms. Doyle’s leadership reflects the mission and values of Sudbury Public Schools,” the committee wrote in the announcement. “She believes deeply in ensuring all students are supported, challenged, and empowered to reach their intellectual and personal potential.”
The committee said Doyle brings extensive administrative experience, a strong understanding of the Sudbury school community and a student-centered approach grounded in collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement.
School Committee officials said they are confident Doyle will provide stability and thoughtful leadership during the district’s transition period and thanked her for stepping into the interim role.
The committee also thanked outgoing Superintendent Brad Crozier for his years of service and his efforts to help ensure a smooth leadership transition.
Superintendent Crozier was appointed in 2018 after working with Wayland Public Schools since 2007, during which he had progressively advanced to become assistant superintendent. He replaced Dr. Anne Wilson, who served as the SPS Superintendent from 2011 to 2018.
Crozier announced he would be leaving the district in the middle of a contract that had been extended to June 30, 2029, less than three years ago.

The news comes amid growing discussions about the School Committee. In March, hundreds of people signed a petition calling for a vote of no confidence in several committee members.
Many residents and SPS employees also spoke at a Mar. 2 School Committee meeting, citing concerns about governance and transparency practices.
Those who spoke during the meeting included Sara Harvey, the principal of Loring School, Stephanie Cohen Mongeon, a fifth-grade teacher at Peter Noyes School and several parents. Speakers cited discussions about Superintendent Crozier's contract.
In a Mar. 3 statement to Patch, the School Committee said the claims outlined in the petition were inaccurate and that all major decisions are discussed and voted on in public meetings.
