SUDBURY, MA — The Sudbury School Committee has completed its review of this year’s goals and is preparing to begin work on its priorities for the next school year.
The committee approved its 2025-26 year-end goals report on Monday and shared the update with the school community on Wednesday. The report summarized progress made over the past year before the committee completed its annual reorganization following Sudbury’s Annual Town Meeting.
Each year, the School Committee said it adopts a set of goals to guide its work on issues affecting students, families, staff and the broader community. That process typically begins in June, continues through the summer and ends with formal adoption in June, July or August, according to the committee.
This year’s goals focused on four areas: family and community engagement, teaching, learning and technology, fiscal stewardship and long-term planning and after-school care and enrichment.
Work in those areas included efforts to strengthen relationships with families and advisory councils, improve public participation and hold community listening sessions.
The committee also monitored curriculum implementation, instructional technology and digital citizenship, while reviewing the operating budget, capital planning and long-term facilities needs. Another focus was exploring ways to expand access to after-school care and enrichment programming.
The School Committee said it will begin developing its 2026-27 goals in June, with final adoption expected in July or August. Community feedback gathered through public comment, listening sessions and advisory councils is expected to help shape those priorities.
The update comes amid growing discussions about the School Committee.
In March, hundreds of people signed a petition calling for a vote of no confidence in several committee members.
Residents and Sudbury Public Schools employees also spoke at a Mar. 2 School Committee meeting, raising concerns about governance and transparency. Several speakers were school staff members and parents, and some comments focused on discussions of Superintendent Brad Crozier’s contract.
On Monday, the School Committee also announced that Assistant Superintendent Annette Doyle had accepted the role of interim superintendent for the 2026-27 school year. The appointment followed Crozier’s announcement last month, in a joint statement with the committee, that he will leave the district at the end of this school year.
In a Mar. 3 statement to Patch, the School Committee said the claims in the petition were inaccurate and that all major decisions are discussed and voted on in public meetings.
