3 New Sudbury Firefighter, Paramedics Complete Recruit Training

SUDBURY, MA — Three new firefighters and paramedics have completed recruit training and are expected to begin responding to emergency calls in Sudbury.

Firefighter/Paramedics Tyler Chapman, Olivia Fraini and Carlos Menchaca graduated Friday from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Recruit Training Program after 10 weeks of training, according to the Sudbury Fire Department.

The department congratulated the three graduates and wished them “a happy, productive and safe career.” Chapman, Fraini and Menchaca will soon be working emergency calls with other Sudbury firefighters and paramedics, the department said.

The Massachusetts Firefighting Academy provides training for municipal fire service personnel.

Recruit training includes classroom work, physical fitness, firefighter skills training and live firefighting practice, according to the Department of Fire Services. Graduates must demonstrate proficiency in skills including life safety, search and rescue, ladder operations, water supply, pump operation and fire attack, according to the agency.
