• SVT to Hold Grand Opening Celebration for Accessible Trail (hollistonreporter.com) — Sudbury residents are invited to celebrate the grand opening of Sudbury Valley Trustees' new accessible All Persons' Trail at Wolbach Farm on October 4 from 8–11 a.m. The free event at 18 Wolbach Road features sensory-friendly activities, birding, forest bathing, story time, music, and a chance to explore the gently graded, wheelchair- and stroller-friendly trail through the woods.
• Frances Louise (Hiller) Healey, 82 (theweektoday.com) — Sudbury has a quiet connection to the life of Frances Louise (Hiller) Healey, who married her husband Michael here in 1969 before they moved to California. The longtime artist and public servant, known for her plein air landscape painting and community work, died at home in San Rafael at age 82, surrounded by care and family.
• 'Depressing and scandalous': Lawmakers want Healey administration to explain lax nursing home oversight (bostonglobe.com) — Sudbury nursing home residents are directly affected as state regulators allow a controversial operator to buy three more facilities, including one in town, despite poor performance concerns. Lawmakers are pressing the Healey administration and public health officials to finally enforce a 2024 law that strengthens vetting of nursing home owners, aiming to improve safety and accountability for vulnerable seniors statewide.
