The 13th Middlesex District includes parts of Sudbury, Wayland, Lincoln, Concord and Marlborough.

"Through his hands-on work in constituent services and local government, he has proven that he knows how to deliver real results for the people of Sudbury, Wayland, Lincoln, Concord and Marlborough," Sen. Markey said in a statement.

Sen. Markey said Simon shares his priorities on climate action, housing, immigrant communities and affordability.

"Senator Markey has spent his career fighting for climate action, working families and Massachusetts values," Simon said in a statement. "I'm honored to have his support."

The endorsement follows support from Gov. Maura Healey and Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll. Simon has also been endorsed by the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund, Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund, Rep. Carmine Gentile, Rep. Simon Cataldo and Sen. Jamie Eldridge, according to his campaign.

Simon, a Sudbury native and 2015 Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School graduate, launched his campaign in February after Gentile announced he would not seek re-election. Simon has worked as an aide to Gentile and served as chair of the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional School Committee.

Voters will head to the polls Nov. 3.
