Cold Shot: Wayside Celebrates Annual Ice Harvest

The Wayside Inn is planning its fifth annual ice harvest.

Taking place at the Ice House behind the inn, it includes snowman building, demos, ice fishing and ice sculpting. Too cold? Warming fired and hot cocoa will also be provided.

The ice harvest takes place on Sunday, Feb. 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“The ‘Old Ice House at the Wayside Inn stored ice harvested in the nearby pond to serve its needs for food preservation and otherwise until modern refrigeration took its place in the 20th-century.”
