"ART POPS" Jasper Johns Art Experience for Toddlers

Join us in our new Art Studio as our Art Teacher, Miss Bridget, leads your child in creating their very own piece of Pop Art inspired by artist Jasper Johns. This hands-on activity offers toddlers experience with letters, art tools, creative process and expression and a lesson in art history.  Using popular advertising clippings from magazines behind painted alphabet pieces, children will create a unique and iconic piece of art on their own canvas.

Please RSVP to 978-440-7817 by Friday June 8, 2012. Limit of 6 children. Class is FREE and open to the community. *Pizza and refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m. with art to follow at 5:45 p.m.

Mr. Johns is a contemporary artist who works primarily in
painting and printmaking.  He is best known for his painting called “The Flag” and his work is often described as “Pop Art”.  Pop Art was a 1950’s art
movement that included imagery from popular culture such as advertising and news.

“Everyone is of course free to interpret the work in his own way. I think seeing a picture is one thing and interpreting it is another.”~Jasper Johns
