Fire Safety Upgrades Planned For 2 Sudbury Elementary Schools

SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury Public Schools is advancing a fire-safety infrastructure project to replace and upgrade emergency systems at two elementary schools.
The project includes replacing fire alarm systems and emergency lighting and installing a Bi-Directional Amplifier system at Josiah Haynes Elementary School and General John Nixon Elementary School, according to the town's Facilities Department.
On Tuesday, a pre-bid walkthrough was scheduled at Haynes Elementary School, where contractors could tour the building ahead of bidding, according to the town.

The work is part of a larger capital improvement effort to modernize safety infrastructure in school buildings and includes the full demolition and replacement of existing fire alarm systems, as well as updated emergency lighting and communications equipment.
Construction is expected to begin following contract award and town funding approval at the 2026 Annual Town Meeting on May 4, according to the town. Bids are due Apr. 29 at 10 a.m. at the Office of the Facilities Director, 275 Old Sudbury Road.

The work is expected to be completed by Aug. 21, unless otherwise agreed, according to the town.
Sudbury Public Schools said it "reserves the right to waive informalities in the bidding process, reject any or all bids, and award the contract deemed to be in the best interest of the Authority."
