ICYMI: Electric Aggregation Coming To Sudbury Soon
Customers will be able to stick with Eversource or opt out for another supplier.

SUDBURY, MA — Soon, Sudbury residents will have the opportunity to switch electric suppliers, either staying with Eversource or opting out with another supplier.
In an update given by Jim Kelly, combined facilities director, for the town manager's newsletter, he explained that Sudbury is closer to having a choice in electric suppliers.
A 2015 Town Meeting resolution tasked the Sudbury Energy Committee to aggregate the electricity consumption of its residents and seek competitive bids for its supply," he wrote.

In November last year, the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities approved the town's application.
"In other words, the town is switching electricity suppliers for all of us," he wrote. Notwithstanding whether or not this hurts Eversource's bottom line, this is good news for several reasons. The program uses a bulk purchasing process designed to provide annual savings and rate stability for consumers and additional renewable energy options."

When the aggregation contract is in place, residents can opt-out and either choose Eversource basic service or another supplier. If you already have an alternative electricity supplier, you can choose to join the town wide program at the end of the contract.
Kelly added that households with solar who are net metering customers will continue to receive net metering
credits from Eversource.
