Sudbury Superintendent To Step Down At End Of School Year
Superintendent Brad Crozier, in a mutually agreed-upon statement with the School Committee, announced he will be leaving the district.
SUDBURY, MA — The superintendent of Sudbury Public Schools announced he will step down in the coming school year.
Superintendent Brad Crozier, in a mutually agreed-upon statement with the School Committee, announced he will be leaving the district at the end of this school year. This comes in the middle of the superintendent's contract, which was extended to June 30, 2029, less than three years ago.
In the notice from Apr. 13, which was obtained by the MetroWest Daily News, Superintendent Crozier cited multiple achievements throughout his tenure, including inclusive practices, school safety and advanced curriculum.

"It has been an honor to serve this district through both times of progress and periods of challenge."
Sudbury School Committee
The news comes amid growing discussions about the School Committee. In March, hundreds of people had signed a petition calling for a vote of no confidence in several committee members.

Many residents and SPS employees also spoke at a Mar. 2 School Committee meeting, citing concerns about governance and transparency practices.
Those who spoke during the meeting included Sara Harvey, the principal of Loring School, Stephanie Cohen Mongeon, a fifth-grade teacher at Peter Noyes School and several parents. Speakers cited discussions about Superintendent Crozier's contract.
In a Mar. 3 statement to Patch, the School Committee said the claims outlined in the petition were inaccurate and that all major decisions are discussed and voted on in public meetings.
Superintendent Crozier was appointed in 2018 after working with Wayland Public Schools since 2007, during which he had progressively advanced to become assistant superintendent. He replaced Dr. Anne Wilson, who served as the SPS Superintendent from 2011 to 2018.
What's Next?
The School Committee will hold a meeting on Thursday to discuss the potential appointment of an interim superintendent from Jul. 1, 2026, through Jun.30, 2027, according to the meeting's amended agenda.
