A Sudbury resident submitted an endorsement for school committee.

SUDBURY, MA — The following letter was submitted:

To the Editor:
I enthusiastically support Mandy Sim and Silvia Nerssessian for Sudbury School Committee. Having served on the School Committee for the past six years (one as Chair and two as Vice-Chair), I know what it takes to be an effective school committee member. Mandy and Silvia will strive to ensure an excellent education for ALL students in SPS. They will be collaborative, constructive, thoughtful, and discerning leaders. They will seek to improve on our already excellent schools while keeping a watchful eye on the budget. And, they will serve with integrity.
Both have the experience needed to hit the ground running. Mandy has been actively involved in the Haynes PTO (HOP) and is currently in her last year as co-chair. She is a strong supporter of students and a firm believer in a high quality public education. She has volunteered countless hours to make Haynes a welcoming place for families and to enrich the educational experience of students. She is a small business owner and knows what it takes to run a business, develop and operate within a budget, manage employees, and plan for the future. Silvia has a finance background and spent the last eight years serving on a local private school board, three as Chair and four as Treasurer. In that role, Silvia united people with diverse backgrounds, styles, and opinions in support of shared goals and created an atmosphere of mutual respect. She was actively involved in developing a budget and engaging in long-term financial planning. She is committed to ensuring the growth and development of each and every student at SPS.
Mandy and Silvia have a proven record of working collaboratively with others, building trusting relationships, and engaging in difficult conversations respectfully. They understand the need to build trust with the community, the SPS staff, and fellow Committee members. If elected, Mandy and Silvia will work tirelessly to ensure that the School Committee adopts a shared vision for the future, engages in long-term strategic and financial planning, communicates clearly with the community, and develops a fiscally-prudent budget that allows SPS to innovate and students to learn and grow each year.
Please join me in voting for Mandy Sim and Silvia Nerssessian on Monday, March 27.
Sincerely,
Ellen Winer Joachim
