The Lincoln-Sudbury Girl's Lacrosse team had two wins last week capturing the Dual County League Championship. The Warriors stand 11-2-1 in the final week of the regular season. The story of the last week was the formidable defense played by senior captain, Caitlin Hullinger, senior,Lauren Proctor and sophomores, Katie DeFreitas and Katherine Yenke, with support from freshman, Caleigh Simons. The defensive unit has grown through the season to become a huge strength for the Warriors. Anchored by senior goalkeeper, Megan Mullin, who has had an outstanding season. L-S defeated Newton South; 14-0 and highly-ranked Andover; 12-4. L-S led Andover 9-0 at halftime holding the two teams scoreless for three out of four halves. L-S Coach Bowen Holden noted: "I am very impressed with the team’s level of focus right now. To hold one team to zero goals in a game and a second team to zero in a half says a lot about the level of focus we have right now. That is exactly what we need heading into our final stretch of the regular season". The Warriors dominated Newton South. Senior, Whitney Hartstone, led scoring with four goals followed by seniors, Emma Palumbo and Elizabeth Krumsiek, with three each, senior captain, Eliza Guild, with two and senior captain, Meg Cahill, and freshman, Jill Farabaugh, each added one. Senior Ali Joseph and Caitlin Hullinger were impressive on the draws as each had four draws controlled. The win against Newton South clinched the DCL Championship. L-S played highly ranked Andover team on Thursday with few mistakes to a 12-4 win. Guild led with six goals, Hartstone and Krumsiek with two each and Cahill and Joseph had one. The Warriors will have two more games to prepare for the state tournament. L-S plays home against top ranked Westwood and Needham using these games to fine-tune its defensive and offensive sets and gauge itself against the best teams in Massachusetts. State tournament seedings will be released this Thursday and L-S expects to have a high seeding in the East Sectional. Go Warriors!
