Metrowest Photographer Paula Ferazzi Swift Named Photographer of the Year

Sudbury, MA / Framingham, MA — Metrowest photographer Paula Ferazzi Swift, owner of Paula Swift Photography, Inc., and a Framingham resident, was named Photographer of the Year at the Professional Photographers Association of Massachusetts (PPAM) Evolve Convention Awards held on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

Swift received the prestigious Photographic Excellence Award – Photographer of the Year, presented to the photographer whose case of six highest-scoring images demonstrates exceptional variety, impact, and technical excellence. The award is selected from the top 10 cases entered in statewide competition.

In addition to Photographer of the Year, Swift was honored with multiple awards during the evening, including:

• Court of Honor Award for a Family Portrait
• Highest Scoring Certified Professional Photographer Award for a Family Portrait
• Specialty Award in Illustrative-Reportage for a Sports Image
• Judge’s Choice Award for a Landscape Image

The annual PPAM Image Competition brings together professional photographers from across Massachusetts to have their work evaluated by a panel of trained jurors using the 12 Elements of a Merit Image — the same standard used at national competition through the Professional Photographers of America.

“This honor is especially meaningful because it reflects not just one image, but a body of work,” said Swift. “Each photograph represents a different part of how I see — from family connection to athletic determination to quiet landscape moments. To have that variety recognized at this level is incredibly humbling.”

Swift is a Master Photographer, Photographic Craftsman, Certified Professional Photographer, and past president of the Professional Photographers Association of Massachusetts. A former staff photojournalist with the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, she now operates a boutique portrait studio located at 730 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, MA, serving families throughout Framingham, Sudbury, and the greater MetroWest Boston area. Her photography specialities include newborn, children, family, and high school senior portraiture, blending her photojournalistic roots with timeless portrait artistry.

As a PPA-approved juror and educator, Swift continues to mentor photographers and uphold professional standards within the industry.
