Monthly Programs Scheduled by Sudbury Historical Society

Ten events are planned through June.

Ten monthly programs have been scheduled by the Sudbury Historical Society. The first is today (Sept. 19).

The Society plans to run all programs at 2 p.m., at Town Hall, unless otherwise noted.

Refreshments will be available, as will sales items.

Here is the schedule of events:

Sept. 19 — Ancestors Day will feature the Fairbanks family

Oct. 3 — History of the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge located in Sudbury, Hudson, Maynard and Stow (formal opening is Oct. 15)

Nov. 14 — Revisiting Henry Ford's Wayside Inn Boys' School with former student Carmino 'Moose' Longhi 

Dec. 19 — Traditional caroling at 1 p.m. with a party to follow at Grange Hall

Jan. 9 — "The Mary Rowlandson Story" (King Philip War in 1676) with actress Katie Green, funded in part by the Sudbury Cultural Council

Feb. 6 — The Sudbury Savoyards remember 50 years of performances of Gilbert & Sullivan with live entertainment, stories, videos and displays

March 6 — Miller/Historian Richard Gnatowski shows how ice was cut the old-fashioned way at the Wayside Inn

April 3 — "Town Meeting Tonight, " which celebrated Sudbury's 350th anniversary in 1989, will be revisited by Paula Adelson whose late husband wrote the play.

April 19 (Tuesday) — "The way it used to be Red Cross Blood Drive" at the Town Hall, with the Sudbury Companies of Militia  & Minute in attendance

May 1 — Bus Tour visiting the "Prohibition Sites of Sudbury"($25 for members, $35 for non-members with payment required in advance.)

June 5 — "History of the Ti- Sales Neighborhood" including the RR Station, Young's Store and Stiles Coal, presented by Bert Tighe and SHS
