New Principal Named to Nixon Elementary
Leo Flanagan comes to the district with more than 21 years experience.

Leo Flanagan, an educational leader with more than 21 years of experience, was recently named the new principal of the Nixon Elementary School, announced Superintendent of Schools Anne Wilson in a release on the schools website.
Flanagan is currently a member of the Superintendent’s Turnaround team, and was also an administrator in the Needham, Randolph and Boston school districts. He also taught fourth and fifth grade in New York.
“Among his many accomplishments, Mr. Flanagan has successful experience as an instructional leader focused on achievement for all students, including students who have traditionally performed less-well and those who thrive with extra challenge,” wrote Wilson. “Mr. Flanagan led the turnaround of Otis Elementary School in Boston from a Level 4 school to a Level 1 school during his tenure as principal and received the Superintendent’s Award for Family and Community engagement.”

Flanagan has a Master of Education degree in administration, planning and social policy from Harvard University Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor’s degree in history and African American studies from Colby College.
