Newton Police: Cops Respond to Calls for Larceny at Whole Foods, Star, Solstice
Retail took a hit on May 6 in Newton.

Incidents, Wednesday, May 6
- Police responded to Whole Foods Market on Washington Street for a shoplifting that had just occurred. Dispatch informed officers that the store staff had eyed the subject and described him as a white male between 40-50, wearing a black scaly cap, grey sweater and blue jeans. He was last seen walking toward Adams Street on Washington Street. Responding units searched the area with negative results. Police met with loss prevention, which stated that they had observed the suspect in Whole Foods place numerous items into a bag and leave the store without paying for them. They attempted to stop the suspect outside the store, and he dropped the bag and ran.
- Police responded to Star Market on Boylston Street for a past larceny. Sometime between 11 a.m. and noon, a woman said after food shopping she noticed her pocketbook zipper was opened. Missing was her purse containing personal items.
- Police responded to Solstice on Boylston Street for a report of larceny by an employee. Officers talked to store security, who said that an employee performed a larceny under false pretenses on May 2. He said that on May 2, the employee took a pair of Gucci sunglasses that were valued at $233.75. She was suspended immediately and asked to leave the premises. This woman, 26, from Jamaica Plain, will face charges.
