Remembering a Sudbury Soldier: Army 1st Lt. Scott F. Milley Was Killed During Operation Enduring Freedom

Milley died in Afghanistan when insurgents attacked his unit in 2010.

SUDBURY, MA—Army 1st Lt. Scott F. ("Scooter") Milley, a Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School graduate, was killed in Afghanistan while serving during Operation Enduring Freedom.

Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Polk, La., he was among those attacked by insurgents on Nov. 30 in 2010, reported Military Times.

Milley's body was flown on Dec. 9 to Hanscom Air Force Base, and his wake was held at L-S high School, where he had graduated in 2005, on Dec. 10.

The Lt. Scott F. Milley Ranger Foundation was created to honor his life, and "the organization seeks to accomplish this by raising funds through traditional fundraising activities and then using these funds to provide scholarships to individuals with need and with a record of service and leadership."
