'Sexualization of Children in Pop Culture': An Expert Speaks

Sudbury Lincoln CRANE announces Jean Kilbourne, speaking about the sexualization of children in pop culture.

In an effort to raise awareness, the Sudbury Lincoln Community Resource Awareness Network (CRANE) is urging interested residents to listen to guest speaker Jean Kilbourne address how advertising and the popular culture hyper-sexualize children at a young age.

Kilbourne, acclaimed media critic, filmmaker, and author of “So Sexy So Soon: The New Sexualized Childhood and What Parents Can Do to Protect Their Kids,“ tackles the subject of the sexualization of children at a young age and offers some strategies for change.

Known for her ability to present provocative topics in a uniting manner, Kilbourne blends expert knowledge, insight and humor to move and empower people to take action in their own and society’s interest.

The event is sponsored by Parent Education of Sudbury, Sudbury Public Schools, and the PTOs of Sudbury Public Schools K-8.

The event happens on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. at the Ephraim Curtis Middle School, 22 Pratts Mill Road.
