Snow and Ice: How Much Does Sudbury Spend?

Nearly half a million is designated for sanding, salting and plowing this winter. Will it be enough?

SUDBURY, MA - If we are slammed like last winter, many towns and cities would be forced to dip into deficit spending or other sources of funding.

But it’s Mother Nature, and no one truly knows.

Sudbury’s budget for snow and ice for the FY2015-2016 period is $431,121. The figure of just less than half-million mirrors last year’s budget.

If Sudbury’s DPW goes over the allotted budget, the town will dip into available free cash or deficit spending from the following year’s tax rate.

Of the total, $201,371 is marked for snow, ice and materials, and $109,000 is marked for contractors.
