Snowshoes, Tropics, a Juggler and Chinese New Year

Check out these ideas for this week's family outings with our list of great events.

Introducing The Grab-n-go Kids Planner. Every Wednesday, we offer you a list of five great activities for families, including fairs, parades, museum special events and kid-friendly shows. Everything from music, to the great outdoors, from science to sports might be included. 

In our inaugural post, check out an array of options: snowshoeing through a sculpture park, a juggler, the tropics and two celebrations of the Chinese New Year.

Where/When: DeCordova Museum in Lincoln. Saturday at 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m (register in advance).

Why Go: A one-of-a-kind experience, and when else would both a deCordvoa Museum Guide and Eastern Mountain Sports Instructor be your guides?

Where/When: Franklin Park Zoo in Dorchester on Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Why Go: It's 72 degrees. Oh, and gorillas (including a new baby!) lemurs, tropical birds, story time and biofacts. 

Pricing: Included with zoo admission. Adults $14, Children $8.

Where/When: Amazing Things Art Center in Framingham, 160 Hollis St. on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Why Go: Boston’s only professional female juggler, plus comedy, magic and singing.

Pricing: $10, $8 members

Where/When: Begins at the mainstage at the corners of Harrison Avenue and Essex Street on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The parade will pass through Hudson, 
Beach, 
Kneeland, 
Oxford, and 
Lincoln streets.

Why Go: It’s February, and there will be bright, beautiful lively colors, cymbals and firecrackers, all to ring in the new year, the year of the rabbit.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: The Children's Museum 300 Congress St., Boston on Sunday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Why Go: See and make prints of Chinese New Year symbols, watch martial arts and even meet rabbits visiting from the zoo.

Pricing: Adults, $12; seniors over age 65, $9; children age 1-15, $9.
