Sudbury Announces Newly Formed Department, Names Director
The new department will combine the current Health, Park and Recreation, and Veterans Services departments in the town.

SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury has announced that its Health Director, Vivian Zeng, transitioned to lead a newly formed department.
Zeng will serve in a new role as Director of Health and Community Services, the town announced Friday. The new department, which will combine other divisions, including Health, Park and Recreation, and Veterans Services, was created through departmental restructuring, the town said.
The Health and Community Services Department combines health with other human services functions. The town said the department restructuring was an adopted model in nearby communities, including Bedford, Concord, Westford, and Weston.

“The work of the Health, Park & Recreation and Veterans departments was already closely connected through our shared focus on the physical, emotional and material well-being of our community members,” said Director Zeng. "Now with increased collaboration, we are positioned to qualify for significant new grant opportunities, introduce cutting-edge initiatives, deepen our outreach into the community, and so much more.”
Zeng began serving as Health Director in April 2023, and officially transitioned to the new role on Jan. 1.
