Sudbury Couple Vacationing in Virgin Islands Found Stabbed to Death

The couple's son was arrested and charged with murdering his parents.

A couple from Sudbury vacationing in the U.S. Virgin Islands has been stabbed to death in their vacation home, say police.

The bodies of a 73-year-old Kenneth Young and 67-year-old wife Jane Young, 66, were found in the vacation home on Sunday afternoon.

The couple’s son, Mikhail Young, 24, of Sudbury, is in custody at the Sudbury Police Department after he was arrested in connection with the murder of his parents, said Chief Scott Nix in a release.

The U.S. Virgin Islands Police Department contacted Sudbury police on Monday around 8 p.m. regarding the double homicide.

Police say it is believed Young fled the Virgin Islands and returned to Massachusetts. Sudbury police found him and arrested him. He is known to police.

WCVB-TV reported that Jane was a math teacher at the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, and that the couple was due to return to their home in Sudbury this week.

Fox 25 News-Boston reported that a judge said that Young has a “three or four page history of threats, assaulting behavior, violations of an abuse prevention order.” Police arrested him in 2010 for domestic assault and battery.

Young is being held at the Sudbury Police Department pending official receipt of homicide charges from authorities in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“This is a horrific crime where the suspect allegedly killed his own parents,” Chief Nix said in a statement. “The Sudbury Police Department is working closely with officials in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and I am proud of the work of our officers to quickly apprehend this dangerous suspect. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victims during this most difficult time.”
