Sudbury Historical Commission Expands Search For New Member
The group is seeking a new member with a passion for historic preservation.
SUDBURY, MA — A longtime commission in Sudbury is seeking a new member with a passion for historic preservation to help protect and preserve the town’s historic and archaeological assets.
The Sudbury Historical Commission, which was established in 1968, is charged with preserving Sudbury’s historic buildings, structures and properties, including Town-owned cemeteries and the Hosmer House Museum. The group also oversees the town’s demolition delay bylaw, adopted in 2004, which allows the commission to impose a six-month delay on the demolition of historically significant buildings.
In addition to reviewing demolition requests, the commission updates Sudbury’s inventory of buildings constructed prior to 1940 and works to develop preservation strategies for historic properties outside the town’s five historic districts.
