Police Chief on Alleged Murderer: 'Mr. Young is Well Known to Us'
Mikhail Young, charged with murdering his parents in the Virgin Islands, was known to police; has a history of violence, mental illness.

In August 2011, Sudbury Police were called to a disturbance on Goodman’s Hill Road to investigate a complaint.
Mikhail Young, 21 at the time, was reportedly causing the disturbance. During the investigation, Young reportedly became combative with the officers. While officers tried to apprehend Young, two were reportedly kicked. In the cruiser, officers used pepper spray on Young.
Young, a native of Russia who was adopted by his parents, was eventually charged with domestic assault and battery against a parent, assault and battery on an officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a shod foot), resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and threatening to commit a crime (allegedly stating he would kill officers).

This was just one in a number of incidents that Young was reportedly involved in. He was arrested in 2010, charged with domestic assault and battery, The Boston Globe reported. He was also on probation for charges of indecent exposure, and his parents had taken out a restraining order on him in the past, according to CBS News. He was known to police beyond just these incidences and also had a history of mental illness, as reported by media outlets including the Boston Herald.
Now Young is facing charges of murdering his parents. He’s accused of stabbing 73-year-old Kenneth Young and 67-year-old wife Jane Young, 66, to death at their vacation rental in the Caribbean on May 3, 2015, and then fleeing back to the United States to escape prosecution.

“Mr. Young is well known to us and we have responded numerous times to their residence,” Sudbury Police Chief Scott Nix told Patch. “I cannot comment on his criminal history beyond that.”
Channel 7 News reporter Victoria Warren posted on Twitter that the suspect had a history with the department and that Nix is “not shocked by murder accusations in parents’ death.” The Boston Herald also reported that Nix said that Mikhail’s arrest “does not shock me.”
On Tuesday, Judge David Cunis ordered Young, now 24, to be held without bail after he was arraigned on murder charges in Framingham District Court on a charge of Fugitive from Justice on a Court Warrant. This charge stems from the arrest warrant issued out of the Superior Court of the U.S. Virgin Islands Division of St. Thomas and St. John for the murder of his parents, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.
“We are heartbroken by the loss of our brother and his wonderful wife Jane,” Kenneth Young’s family said in a statement. “Ken was one of five siblings. Ken and Jane had big hearts, and they dedicated their lives to helping others. We truly appreciate the outpouring of support that we have received, and at this time we ask everyone to please respect our privacy during our grieving process.”
Jane Wong had retired in January after teaching for many years at Lincoln-Sudbury High School. Superintendent of Schools Bella Wong said in a statement, “It’s hard to make sense of what suddenly happened.” She addressed the student body, which has been posting signs of remembrance for their former teacher, in a statement.
