Sudbury Public Schools Committee Announces Four Finalists in Superintendent Search

Finalists will visit school district March 3-9.

The Sudbury Public School Committee announced the selection of four finalists to be considered for the position of superintendent of schools.  The school committee appointed a 14-member screening committee to review applications and to conduct first-round interviews of candidates who, based on their resumes and applications, met the necessary qualifications for this position. 

The screening committee included representation from the school committee, the school district's administrative office, building-level administration, teachers, support staff, parents, the Sudbury Education Association, the Sudbury Special Education Advisory Council, METCO, and the Sudbury Finance Committee.

At the beginning of February, the screening committee reviewed and discussed 23 applications for this position. Ten candidates were interviewed in the first round.  On Wednesday, screening committee co-chairs Rich Robison and Lisa Gutch, on behalf of the screening committee, presented the following candidates (presented in alphabetical order) to the school committee for further consideration:

  • Glenn Brand, principal of Pollard Middle School in Needham;
  • Lauren Gilbert, assistant superintendent/director of student services of Natick Public Schools;
  • Dr. Jonathan Landman, assistant superintendent for Teaching and Learning of Randolph Public Schools;
  • Dr. Anne Wilson, assistant superintendent for Human Resources for Public Schools of Brookline. 

Glenn Brand holds the Master of Education from the University of Toronto and is currently enrolled in the Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Education Leadership from the University of Bath (in the UK).  He is the principal of Pollard Middle School in Needham, was formerly the principal of Wareham Middle School, served in two assistant principal roles, and began his career teaching grades three through eight in Ontario, Canada.

Lauren Gilbert holds a Master of Arts in Education Administration from Cambridge College.  She is currently enrolled in the Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Education Leadership at Boston College.  She is the assistant superintendent/director of Student Services for Natick Public Schools.  During her career in education, she also served as assistant director for Student Services in Natick, was the Evaluation Team Leader in Worcester (responsible for facilitating the special education evaluation process), and was a Special Education Teacher and Lead Teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Dr. Jonathan Landman received a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.)  in Teaching and Learning from Harvard University.  He also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Tufts University and the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Brandeis University. He is the assistant superintendent for Teaching and Learning in Randolph Public Schools, was formerly the Principal of Belmont High School, and prior to this, was the assistant superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Community Education for Acton Public and Acton-Boxborough Regional School Districts.  

Dr. Anne Wilson received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Education Administration from Boston College, the Master of Science in Education/Curriculum from California State University, and the Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education/Mathematics from Bloomsburg University.  Prior to her current role as Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources in Brookline, she served as the founding principal and assistant principal of middle schools in San Ramon, California.  She began her career in education as a high school Math teacher in Florida and then taught Math in a middle school in California.

  • Rich Robison, Member of Sudbury Public School Committee
  • Lisa Gutch, Member of Sudbury Public School Committee

The finalists will visit the school district from March 3-9 to meet with staff, administrators, parents and students and will interview with the school committee in the evenings on those days.  The schedule for their visits is as follows:
