Sudbury Residents Star in TCAN Players' Deathtrap

Sudbury locals Kathy Lague and Tom Powers star in The TCAN Players' production of Ira Levin's thriller Deathtrap opening Nov 7th at TCAN.

From November 7-16, the TCAN Players present Ira Levin’s classic thriller Deathtrap at the Center for Arts in Natick. In the critically acclaimed play, a down-on-his-luck playwright’s student tells him that he has written the perfect suspense play and will bring it to the playwright’s Connecticut home that night. The suspense over whether the playwright will kill the student and take credit for his play forms the crux of this exciting play. Director Russell R. Green leads a cast of stellar local actors including newcomers and returning TCAN Players veterans.

Tom Powers of Sudbury plays the role of Porter Milgrim, solid, observant and professional, he is along-time personal friend of Sidney Bruhl, the play’s protagonist. Currently, Tom is the Technical Director of the TCAN Players as well as a Board Member. Since 2007, he has been a set designer, builder, and once had a walk-on role as a Dutch drug lord in Funny Money in 2011. He received two EMACT DASH nominations for Best Set Design for a Play, both for shows at TCAN. Recieved Best Set Design award for the Hovey Players’ production of Rabbit Hole at 2014 EMACT Festival. Tom is a Computer Engineer specializing in Embedded Software/Firmware who now has greatly expanded his free time for work in theater. He is married to Nancy for 40 years with two daughters and three grandchildren.

Kathy Lague, also of Sudbury, plays the role of Myra Bruhlm, Sidney’s sweet but emotional wife. She is very supportive of Sydney’s career and moods but does grow some backbone when he crosses the line. Kathy has played Abby Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace for the TCAN Players, and also directed their production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee in 2013. She has worked with Concord Players, Vokes Players, Nashoba Players, Fiddlehead Theatre, Sudbury Savoyards, Cannon Theatre, and is currently on the Board of Concord Players. Professionally, Kathy is a Senior Telecommunications Engineer, and is currently a contractor at John Hancock. She has also been a contestant on “Jeopardy”!
