Sudbury Reveals Memorial Day Parade Lineup, Seeks July 4 Parade Floats

SUDBURY, MA — Two of Sudbury's biggest parades will make a return in 2022, starting with the upcoming Memorial Day parade. Both parades were put on hiatus over the last few years due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Sudbury Memorial Day festivities begin early in the morning on May 30 with a salute at the Revolutionary War cemetery behind town hall. The parade will step off around 9:30 a.m. and travel to several war memorials around town before returning to Grinnell Park for a ceremony at 11 a.m.

The Hosmer House will also be open to the public most of the day beginning at 10 a.m. You can find a full lineup for Sudbury's 2022 Memorial Day celebration online and here:

• 7:30 a.m. — Revolutionary War Cemetery and Minuteman Statue
• 8:30 a.m. — Commemorative ceremonies at Old North Cemetery and New North Cemetery
• 9 a.m. — Parade assembles at Rugged Bear Plaza
• 9:30 a.m. — Parade begins at Rugged Bear Plaza
• 9:45 a.m. — Civil War Monument at Goodnow Library
• 10 a.m. — Colonel Bonazzoli Gravestone
• 10:10 a.m. — King Philip Monuments at Wadsworth Cemetery
• 10:30 a.m. — Flag Raising, WW II, Korea and Vietnam
• 10:45 a.m. — Brownies and Cubs enter at Our Lady of Fatima
• 11 a.m. — Sudbury Memorial Day Program begins at Grinnell Park at Town Center

The 11 a.m. ceremony will include events in this order:

• WWI ceremony
• Hal Cutler prayer for WWI
• National Anthem by The Sudbury Ancient Fife & Drum Companies
• Sudbury Companies of Militia and Minute & 12th Georgia musket salute
• Steve Milley delivers prayer for Memorial Day
• Sudbury Fyfe & Drum plays "Battle Hymn of the Republic"
• Girl Scouts sing “America”
• Remarks delivered by Parade Marshall Mike Milocivich
• Reading veterans who have passed since last Memorial Day
• Girl Scouts sing “Thank You Soldiers”
• Thank You announcements followed by "Taps"

Meanwhile, the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce is planning the town's July 4 celebration after two years on hiatus. The 2022 event will be themed around the "heroes, helpers and essential workers" of the pandemic.

The Sudbury July 4 parade will begin around 1 p.m. on Independence Day at Chiswick Park. The chamber is still seeking help filling out the parade with floats and more; contact the July 4 parade committee at parade@sudbury.org
