SUDBURY, MA—Voters turned out for the Massachusetts state primary election on Thursday, Sept. 8, electing state representatives, state senators, councillors, sheriffs and other state positions.There were two contested races in Sudbury: one for sheriff and the other for councillor, both on the democratic ballot.
The State Primary Election was held at two locations. Precincts 1, 1A, 2 and 5 voted at the Fairbank Community Center, 40 Fairbank Road, and Precincts 3 and 4 voted at the Town Hall, 322 Concord Road. The polls were open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. There were 454 votes cast, representing 3.60% of the town's 12,594 registered voters. The final tabulation was done at the Town Hall.

State Senator, Middlesex and Worcester District: James B. Eldridge, 142 votes
Councillor, 3rd District: Marilyn M. Petitto Devaney, 189 votes; Peter Georgiou, 115 votes; William Bishop Humphrey, 54 votes
State Senator, 3rd Middlesex District: Michael J. Barrett, 209 votes
State Representative, 13th Middlesex District: Carmine Lawrence Gentile, 358 votes
Sheriff, Middlesex County: Peter J. Koutoujian, 306 votes; Barry S. Kelleher, 43 votes
Republican Ballot:
Representative in Congress, 3rd District: Ann Wofford, 9 votes
State Senator, Middlesex and Worcester District: Ted Busiek, 31 votes
