Sunday Afternoons at the Goodnow
The Friends of the Goodnow Library present "The Jefferson Qur'an" on Sunday, May 17 at 3:00 p.m.

The Friends of the Goodnow Library “Sunday Afternoons at the Goodnow” cultural series on May 17, 2015, at 3:00 p.m., will feature a lecture on America’s third president, Thomas Jefferson. This event is rescheduled from February. Presented by Alexandra Jerome, Teaching Fellow and Ph.D. Candidate in American Studies at the College of William & Mary, “The Jefferson Qur’an” lecture was included in the 250th anniversary celebration of Jefferson’s graduation from the College of William & Mary, and has been published by Oxford Islamic Studies Online.
Ms. Jerome specializes in Islam and gender in Euro-America, with a special focus on women’s literature and Islam in American culture after September 11th. She teaches classes on Women’s Studies, Islam and Gender, and Islam in America. From the Founding Fathers to the Jazz Age, she explores the myriad ways that Islam influenced American culture in this fascinating discussion.
