Talent and Auction Items Galore at the HOPEsudbury Telethon and Auction on Saturday

This year’s Telethon and Auction takes place on Saturday, November 1st from noon to 10 pm. It’s broadcast LIVE from the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School (L-S) auditorium on Sudbury TV (Comcast8/Verizon 31). Out-of-towners can watch the show in real time at sudburytv.org. The annual HOPEsudbury Telethon and Auction, a beloved Sudbury tradition, is now in its 13th year!

The majority of funds raised through the Telethon support HOPEsudbury’s flagship program, The HOPE Fund, which provides emergency financial assistance to Sudbury residents. Last year the Fund distributed $41,000 to 57 Sudbury families who had fallen on hard times. Residents apply for confidential assistance through the Sudbury town social worker, with most requesting funds to cover basic needs such as utilities, rent/mortgage and medical expenses.

“The beauty of the Telethon is that everyone in town can participate in a meaningful way – as a volunteer, a performer, a sponsor, a donor or a bidder,” explains Beth Farrell, one of the co-chairs heading up the Telethon committee. “Giving people from all walks of Sudbury life the opportunity to meet and work together for a good cause is as important to us as the money we raise. Plus, the Telethon is just plain fun!”

Every year, community members line up to show off their talent. Acts include singers, bands, dance troupes and demonstrations. A special professional act that is generously donating time for HOPEsudbury is Unique Status 4, a talented pop band from Fall River that will appeal to young teens is performing at 12:30. This year’s 10 hours of Telethon talent will feature a Children’s Hour from 5-6 pm; International Hour from 6:15-7:15 pm and Broadway hits from 7:30-8:30 pm.

On-line bidding begins at 7AM and ends at 9:45 on hopesudbury.org from your computer, mobile phone or tablet. Bids may be placed anytime, anywhere - from the soccer field, while dining out, waiting for an appointment, or watching the Telethon.

There is something for every interest and budget level at the auction, from gift certificates to restaurants (40 of them!), fitness centers, and local merchants to Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics tickets to museum passes, local sports team registrations, summer camp vouchers, spa and nail services, special weekend getaways, and much, much more.

In total, the auction features more than 245 Gift Cards, 74 Children’s Items, 55 Dining Opportunities, 42 Spa, Fitness & Wellness Items, 34 Sets of Tickets, 17 Gift Baskets, 16 Art Items, 15 Museum Packages, 12 Theater Events, 11 Travel Opportunities, 9 Priceless Items and 18 Spotlight Items.

Some of the great features of the online bidding process include the ability to check bid status at any time, and notifications when you’ve been outbid. You can also set an upper limit on your bidding and can bid automatically until the limit is reached.
