Westborough Boy and Girl Scouts Venture to Sudbury for the Scout-O Championships

Thirty-three Westborough Scouts and 11 of their leaders joined 400 Girl, Boy & Venture Scouts for the Scout-O Orienteering Championships Oct. 25 and 26.

The New England Orienteering Club organizes this event at Nobscot Scout Reservation in Sudbury every October.

Five Westborough Troops (Girl Scout Troops 30507, 30508, 11129 and 11130 and Boy Scout Troop 382) competed at one of three levels (White, Yellow & Orange), depending upon age or rank of the Scout.

Westborough Scouts brought home awards for 1st and 3rd place Girls White, 2nd and 3rd place Girls Yellow, 3rd place Boys White, 1st place Leaders Yellow and 2nd place Leaders Orange. Some of the scouts also helped at the event by organizing the Night Orienteering and running registration on Sunday morning. Girl Scout Cadette Troop 30507 – Corinne Sciarappa, Ella Fox, Sarah Masciarelli/Mary McCormack/Lydia O’Connell (3rd place Girls Yellow), Grete Feldman/Helena Spofford/Elizabeth Baldwin (2nd place Girls Yellow) and leaders Julie Baldwin, Jennifer Masciarelli, and Karen Yeowell (2nd place Leaders Orange).

Girl Scout Cadette Troop 30508 – Ryann Smith/Colleen McGrath/Cary Chiarelli (5th place Girls Yellow) Caroline White, Vennela Vavilla/Caroline White/Julia French (6th place Girls Yellow) and leaders Pam Smith and Katie Chiarelli

Girl Scout Junior Troops 11129 and 11130 – Olivia Rice/Lily Fox/Ella Masciarelli (3rd place Girls White), Abby Beauregard/Emerson Waite/Sophie Scerbin (1st place Girls White), and leaders Jennifer Masciarelli, Michelle Scerbin, and Jessica Fox (1st place Leaders Yellow).

Boy Scout Troop 382 - Robert Stout, Ben Smith, Seth Girard, Jacob Girard, Ries Scerbin, Max Scerbin, Elijah Mecenas, Luke Bellaud, Aidan Johnson/Thomas Zhang/Sam Colebourn (3rd place Boys White), and John O’Connell with Sal Spada from Troop 1 Dedham (1st place Boys Orange) and leaders Mark O’Connell, George Zhang, Peter Mecenas and Peter Girard.
