Winter Gas Main Construction In Sudbury Could Affect Up To 60 Homes
Water mains are being replaced in several Sudbury neighborhoods starting later in January.

SUDBURY, MA — In 2011, the Federal Government mandated a "call to action" requiring all steel and cast iron pipes to be replaces as quickly as possible.
Sudbury is working closely with National Grid to replace old and leak-prone natural gas mains, according to a recent announcement from the town. Sudbury is assisting National Grid with this project by allowing winter construction on Mossman Road, Willis Road, and Loker Road. As part of the project, National Grid is replacing the natural gas service piping that connects the main to the customer’s gas meters. Pipe replacement on private property is not expected but will be required if meters need relocation to the outside of the home, said the release. Approximately 60 homes are within the construction limits.
Construction is expected to begin in late January 2017 and is anticipated to last through spring, depending on the weather. Both detours and delays are expected, but school bus route schedules will not be affected by the project.
A sample letter notification to impacted Sudbury residents in close proximity to the project is located here.
