1. $70K MA Grant To Help Restore Swampscott's Phillips Park Basketball Court (patch.com) — Swampscott is set to upgrade the Phillips Park basketball court thanks to a $70,000 state grant, part of a broader $13 million parks and open space initiative. Residents can expect a resurfaced court, new benches, bike racks, trash receptacles, and improved lighting and fencing, all aimed at making the neighborhood park safer and more enjoyable.
2. Swampscott To Display Framed Declaration Of Independence Replica For Public Viewing (patch.com) — Swampscott residents will soon be able to view a professionally framed replica of the Declaration of Independence as it goes on display at Town Hall and then rotates through local schools. Tied to the area's Revolutionary-era history and the nation's 250th anniversary, the project involved local partners and included a student-led public reading earlier this month.
3. Marblehead, Swampscott Awarded $2.1 Million In MA One-Stop Growth Grants (patch.com) — Swampscott is receiving $1.4 million in state One Stop Growth funding to upsize water mains for the Pine Street Water Project, supporting Veterans Crossing and future housing on Pine Street and Railroad Avenue. Neighboring Marblehead and Nahant also secured grants, but this award directly affects local infrastructure, housing capacity, and long-term development in town.
4. Fire at multi-family home in Swampscott being investigated as arson - Boston News, Weather, Sports (whdh.com) — An overnight fire at a two-family home on Erie Street in Swampscott is being investigated as arson, with officials probing whether a firebomb thrown from a car sparked the blaze. No one was hurt, but tenants must find new housing, and police are reviewing surveillance footage while asking anyone with information to contact the Swampscott Police Department.
