SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott residents on certain one-way streets and dead-end roads will see changes to trash collection as Republic Services adjusts service on routes tied to safety and truck access.

The changes apply only to some streets, not the entire community.

The town said Republic Services identified several one-way streets and dead-end roads where the current collection process needs to be adjusted. Republic said the changes are intended to improve safety and match the capabilities of the automated collection vehicles used for pickup.

Residents whose streets are affected will receive notice directly on their trash carts, letting them know that they now must move trash and recycling cans to the end of the street for it to be collected.

A full list of affected streets can be found here.

"We understand that changes to established collection procedures may require some adjustment, and we sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation," town officials said. "These modifications are intended to improve safety for residents and collection crews while maintaining reliable and efficient trash collection services throughout our community."
