Beware: Four Daytime Housebreaks This Week
Thieves have been kicking in front doors in the first half of the day.

Police ask residents to be on the lookout for suspicious people after a series of daytime break-ins this week.
As of Thursday four had taken place, all between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., said Det. Bill Waters. They include breaks on Barnstable Street and Aspen Road, he said.

The thieves have been kicking in front doors to access homes and stealing laptop computers, iPads, jewelry and other items of value.
"Residents are urged to call the police immediately if they notice any suspicious persons," the detective said.

Many times people witness things out of place and do not call right away — sometimes calling hours or even days later to report what they saw — only to find out later that a crime occurred, he said.
"The best chance of apprehending a suspect is a prompt call to the police so that officers can identify a potential person involved," he said.
