Lydia Breed &amp; Friends Art Exhibit Reception 
Join us to celebrate Lydia Newhall Breed (1925–2019), beloved North Shore artist and founding member of The Boston Printmakers, in a mixed-media exhibit.
The show features Lydia’s prints and sculptures displayed alongside works by local artists exploring five themes: trees and forests, the sea, the inner light, nature, and social justice.
Opening reception: October 11, 4:30-6:30pm (refreshments served) 
Public Hours (no admission charge): October 4, 3-5pm October 13, 6-8pm October 18, 4-6pm

Join longtime Yankee editor Mel Allen for an evocative presentation entitled Here In New England. Experience unforgettable stories of people, places, and memories that connect us all through the lens of a regional expert.
On Friday, October 16 at 7pm at the Swampscott Public Library, longtime “Yankee” Magazine editor Mel Allen will engage his audience with funny stories, nostalgic tales and familiar descriptions of the region. His decades at the Magazine enrich his recently published book “Here in New England” and&nbsp;mirror closely the Magazine’s own description of itself.“Yankee is New England’s storyteller: exploring the future, present, and past of this fabled region, and sharing the lifestyle secrets that only the locals know. Through beautiful photos, artwork, and unforgettable stories, Yankee paints a portrait of New England that feels like home to all who live here, and inspires people everywhere to discover the New England they dream of.’






Come meet the author and enjoy an evening of great storytelling.
Doors open at 6 pm. There’s a wine and beer cash bar and each ticket includes a copy of the author’s new book.

Tickets are $40 through the <a href="https://swampscottlibraryfriends.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Friends of the Library website</a> or&nbsp;by check at the library front desk.



All proceeds go toward the Friends support of Library programming for all ages.
