A recent slideshow names Swampscott among the some hard-to-pronounce Massachusetts town names.

Swampscott, pronounced swamp-scutt, is among the more difficult town names in the state to pronounce, according to a recent article outlining the phonetics and origins of 30 Massachusetts towns.
We have the Native American roots in the state to thank for some truly unique and, in some cases, downright confusing pronunciations. (Ever had a tourist ask for directions to Glow-ses-ter?)
