North Shore Man Tried to Rape Disabled Woman: Police
Angel Castro, of Gloucester, was charged with trying to rape a woman in Rockport Wednesday, police said.
ROCKPORT, MA — A Gloucester man was arrested Friday on charges he tried to rape a disabled woman in Rockport earlier this week. Police said Angel Castro, 22, attacked the woman from behind Wednesday on Pooles Lane and tried to take off her clothes, reaching for her underwear. He then ran away and fled on a bicycle.
Security cameras in a nearby store helped officers identify Castro, police said. Castro will be arraigned in Gloucester District Court Monday.
"The successful resolution of this incident and arrest of the suspect is the result of a multi-agency collaboration including the Rockport Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police, Gloucester Police Department and the MBTA Police," Rockport Police Chief John Horvath said in a statement. "The dedication and fine work of all law enforcement members involved in this effort are reflective of their continued commitment to the safety of our communities."
