Gallery: Tour the "Leafy" Grown Ups 2 Beach Path

Dozens of the manufactured trees surrounded the Phillips Park sound stage Saturday.

Walk the gravel path from to the beach and the flora to your right is real.

To the left, between a fence and themovie sound stage, are lines of trees sprouting fake leaves.

On Saturday dozens of walkers and bicyclists paused on the path for a close-up of the trees in their steel stands.

Most onlookers were impressed with the trees and amazed at the lengths and expense movie makers were going to in order to create their set.

The trees' trunks and boughs were real; but their branches and leaves were fake.

They were birch and maple and oak.

The trunks were square hewn at the bottom and dropped in steel stands and fixed firmly into place with wedges.

On the ground, spread over tarps were an array of fake leaves, numbered and ready to be glued to boughs.

Eventually the trees and their canopies of synthetic leaves will be moved inside the 45,000-square-foot and 80-foot-tall .

The set will include a pool and tennis courts and a house facade with a yard of trees whose shade will be real but cast by fake leaves.
