Workers unspooled cables, carted stands and tripods, and positioned lights, booms and cameras on the set at 49 Magnolia.
Some neighbors lifted cell phones to capture the scene unfolding on their tree-lined street but production assistants crossed the road and told them they were not allowed to photograph the set.

Some people complied; others did not, questioning the assistants' authority to restrict photography from public property.
The preparation for filming stirred before 6 am, neighbors said.
After 8 am Aimee Kouroubacalis stood on her porch holding her 17-month-old son, Jackson, on her hip, excited about the filming in town, the filming in her neighborhood.
She had an eye out for celebrities but had not seen any of them, yet, she said.
Karen Poska's son saw Chris Rock outside 49 Magnolia, earlier. The actor got out of an Escalade vehicle briefly but soon left.
"I'm way excited," she said. So are her three children, she said.
Carl Caira lives directly across the street from the home in which the movie scene is being filmed. He isn't excited by the movie doings but thinks it is a good thing for the town and hasn't noticed any major obstacles.
Some of the neighbors, however, wondered why production assistants were telling them they could not take photographs.
CJ Stutz, who lives next door to the set, was told she could not take a photograph of her own house, she said.
CJ, who is a lawyer, said the assistants are over-stepping their bounds by telling people they can not stand on public property and take a photograph.
Meanwhile, rain slapped against the street and pattered against the tree canopy.
Less than a mile away, construction was underway at a sound stage building where the movie makers will not have to worry about the weather, time of day or people taking photos of their set.
The enclosed stage at will include the Adam Sandler character's house, his pool and tennis courts.
The tented stage will be 45,000 square feet and 80 feet tall and allow the movie crew to film a "wild party" scene during the day.
About two weeks of filming is planned in the tented building, likely in July.
