Local Swampscott High School Senior Receives GLSS Scholarship
The Lique Human Services Scholarship is awarded to a student who excels in community volunteer services during their high school career.

The Greater Lynn Senior Services created The Lique Human Services Scholarship to support two high school seniors from 5 surrounding towns and 7 local high schools, who showcase a strong interest in the field of human/community service. The scholarship was created to honor and continue the legacy of Vince Lique, who dedicated his time to serving those in need in our communities as well as being a strong advocate for treating everyone with dignity and respect.
Out of all applicants from the surrounding communities including Lynn, Lynnfield, Nahant, Saugus, & Swampscott, one of our own graduating seniors was award with the honor. William Fraser, a graduating senior, soon to be a freshman at Plymouth State, was awarded The Lique Human Services Scholarship for his devotion and dedication to helping others in his surrounding communities. Fraser was presented the scholarship for his commitment and whole-hearted contributions to the Adaptive Sports Program at Spaulding Rehabilitation in Charlestown, Boston. During his summers of volunteering in the program, he would become a well-known friendly face to clients with physical and cognitive disabilities looking to go through their physical rehabilitation process in a more enjoyable way, or simply for their own entertainment. As a volunteer, Fraser would interact with clients, making sure their day is filled with not only exercise, but fun. He would often times lead activities such as kayaking in Boston Harbor or cycling the Charlestown Navy Yard.
Fraser believes, "no one should feel different due to a disability and I believe that Adaptive Sports is a great way for everyone to feel equal as well as included in a fun, active way. Not only does it allow everyone to be happy with what they're doing, it's also a great way to staying healthy both mentally and physically. It is such an honor to be awarded this scholarship and I look forward to continuing my volunteer work."

Congratulations on the scholarship William Fraser, and good luck this fall at Plymouth State.
