New HomeGoods Store a Go for Oct. 23

The home fashions store will open for a four-hour shopping preview Oct. 21.

The old TJ Maxx space was gutted, redesigned and rebuilt.

Now HomeGoods is gearing up in the Swampscott Mall space for an Oct. 23, grand opening, Store Manager Chris Lang said.

On Monday the interior was well lit and well stocked.

Lang said she will have a shoppers' preview Oct. 21, from 4 to 8 p.m.

On Monday, some of the 60 employees, many of whom live in Swampscott or Salem, were getting training at the front of the store.

Above them was the HomeGoods logo and greeting Happy to be In Swampscott, the commerical version of Home Sweet Home.

HomeGoods is the country's only major off-price store dedicated to home fashions, according to the company's spokesman.

The Swampscott store is 25,000 square feet, and gives HomeGoods 21 locations in the Boston market.

Its high-quality home fashions are priced 20 to 60 percent less than department and specialty stores' regular prices, the spokesman said.

"We are excited to bring HomeGoods and our off-price concept to Swampscott area shoppers," Richard Sherr, president of HomeGoods, said in a prepared statement. "Consumers are more value conscious than ever and we know that our new store will be a welcome addition because our outstanding prices on high-quality home fashions allow shoppers to affordably update their homes without sacrificing quality or style," added Sherr.

HomeGoods stores offer a liberal 30-day return policy, accept all major credit cards and offer gift cards for purchase. HomeGoods can be found online at homegoods.com and on Facebook and Twitter.

Regular store hours are Monday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Special grand opening day hours will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
